Vegas
Took a semi-road trip to Vegas. I'm reminded how and why I dislike car trips. In the idea of avoiding typical rush hour traffic, I was rewarded with even more traffic and accidents. :(
Checked into the Las Vegas Hilton for a night. Tagged along with a group but opted out of sharing rooms. I'm bouncing around this weekend to work on my loyalty account. While watching the local news, I found out that the hotel was having financial issues. Hope they work it out and get more business. It has always been a reasonable priced hotel for my trips here. On this night, I was given the parlor room. Whenever someone says to me parlor room, I remember the first time I was introduced to that definition and it has always left a bad memory. I'm glad that the Las Vegas Hilton doesn't have the same definition.
The next morning I grabbed an omelette from the buffet. I generally find the desserts average here but enjoyed the coconut cream pie to my surprise.
Checked into the Embassy Suites Convention Center. I don't think I've been here but the front desk welcomed me back. So I guess I must have. Typical layout but this place is really popular with families. Probably because of the suites and cooked to order breakfast.
Went out for a late lunch at PBR Rock Bar & Grill inside Planet Hollwyood hotel and ordered a snack. I don't typically eat pb&j sandwiches but it caught my eye. Darn tasty! Afterwards wandered around the Cosmopolitan hotel. It had a retro modern feel but it felt small. Later that evening, grabbed dinner within the hotel at Holstein's. A gourmet burger restaurant. Split the steakhouse and a spiked drunken monkey milkshake. I found the milkshake pretty good. Overall, I think The Counter or 25 Degrees better.
The next day checked into the Las Vegas Hilton and hung out the pool. Dinner was at Envy inside the Renaissance hotel. I had heard the restaurant was a good steakhouse yet can't attract a crowd. The restaurant easily accommodated the group of 7 without any issue. I ordered the seasonal burger and found it interesting. It was a filet mignon with lobster medallions sandwich and a heaping side of truffle fries. Too full to have dessert, I called it a night. This time my room was a typical deluxe hotel room.
