Rancho Cucamonga
Opted to do a staycation overnight trip with the four legged children. Drove out to Rancho Cucamonga and stayed at the Four Points Ontario-Rancho Cucamonga. After checking around the Inland Empire and Orange County hotels, I found that the Four Points had the right combination of room rate and reasonable pet fee that would allow for large dogs. Given that I have small adult weight dogs, it isn't as easy to find hotels willing to allow two large dogs. I did call the hotel after making the reservation to confirm their pet policy and what I would have to do to note that. Unlike Hilton, the Marriott portal doesn't allow you to check "additional requests" including pets. I did make it as an "other" comment. When I checked into the hotel, the desk agent did not seem to know that it was noted and I had to reconfirm. So it seems I could have walked in and they would not have been the wiser regarding the pet fee.
Depending on your viewpoint, the room assigned was on the third floor but by the exit staircase. I suppose it isn't ideal to have you pet go up and down the stairs or the elevators but it seemed to work out for me. It appeared that the hotel sold out the last minute as there were a lot of soccer kids in the hotel which I wasn't expecting given the low rate I booked. The rooms were very large and the dogs had plenty of space to lounge.
The hotel is located in a plaza that had a Vietnamese restaurant and a boba shop which worked out well for me. It was so hot (even at 8 pm) that I was unmotivated to leave the airconditioned room. I ordered takeout from the Pho Viet at 11940 Foothill Boulevard, Ste 118, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739. The restaurant is also on door dash. Despite the average yelp star reviews, I found my bun thom cha gio satisfying. I also grabbed a mango slush with boba from Boba Run next door (Ste 108).
Victoria Gardens was also down the street. It is a large outdoor mall (surprising given the heat in the inland empire). Baked Dessert Bar recently moved to Victoria Gardens (apparently they were in two other locations in the immediate area). I have had their desserts through family and this was my first visit to their location. I did enjoy most of the cupcakes I ordered like the turon and ube. The sugar cookie didn't go over well. The crème brulee cake was delicious. They also have crinkle cookies but I didn't like the pandan as much as the ube. Maybe because the pandan was drier.
