San Diego
On a lark, did an overnight trip to San Diego. I had read that the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Hotel having a lounge with a birds eye view into Petco Park. Given the current state of world affairs, I didn't think attending a live sporting event will be possible in 2021. So I thought it would be fun to use a free night certificate and splurge on going to San Diego and watch the game al fresco style.
San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Hotel/Altitude Lounge - I have not stayed at this particular hotel in San Diego. It is right next to Petco Park and the area is a madhouse when on game days. My upgrade was confirmed to a suite. The hotel room was a little dated but very comfortable.

I had contacted Altitude Lounge a few months before the stay and they could not confirm access. I didn't realize at the time that if they couldn't confirm access that it was unlikely I would see the game because the Lounge only has wall railings. In other words, the lounge's walls are not glass so if you aren't sitting on the counter rail seats, you are not watching the game. The rest of the Lounge is designed for you to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Had I known that would happen and there was a two hour waiting time standing in the lobby roo., I would have canceled on the trip and watched the game at home. In addition, because the game was during the afternoon, the few TVs/projection screens were not visible until sunset. I had brought an iPad with me and was able to watch the game via my slingbox.

The food was nothing better than regular room service. For the money and time involved, it was ok. The crowd was nice and everyone was a dodger fan. Later that night, there were still a two hour wait line for people who wanted to hang out after the game. I would think it is nice as the weather was great.
I am curious if the Omni hotel across the way.has a better outdoor roof lounge. I could see it from the Marriott and have no idea if they have a good view into the ballpark or not.
DINING
Le Parfait Paris - wandered over after the game to try some desserts. Between the crepe, croissant and chocolate opera, only the chocolate opera is worth getting. They also sell delicious macarons and will also make macaron ice cream sandwiches.

Breakfast Republic - because the Marriott closed its restaurant due to the pandemic, I walked over to Breakfast Republic. They've tripled their capacity by taking over both sides of the street. Tbe restaurant sits on a corner so they had outdoor patios on both sides. The wait wasn't long. I ordered the pancake flight which I enjoyed. It was very filling. Would I wait for awhile for this breakfast, I wouldn't be compelled to do so.
