Dominican Republic - Sanctuary Cap Cana
Courtesy of my partner's job, I was given the opportunity to fly to the Dominican Republic and stay at an all-inclusive resort for an extended weekend. Due to the nature of the trip, I didn't leave the resort to really see the island so this post will mainly be about getting to the Dominican Republic and the hotel amenities.
The resort is huge and there were many areas within the complex. I found the "edge" or border with another resort to fly my drone. The security person didn't stop me but he did tell me to go towards the ocean and away from the hotel rooms.
Flew on United Airlines through Dulles International Airport to land at Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Munoz Marin. Since all the expenses were taken care of, I was whisked away on a shared shuttle to Sanctuary Cap Cana. On the return trip, I did not have the time or inclination to test out the Priority Pass Lounge nor did United have access to a lounge in this airport. I suppose the fact that I was upgraded to business class from IAD to Dominican Republic tells you that not that many United fliers get down to this island. Ironic since I assumed when Continental Airlines merged with United that many East Coasters head to the Dominican Republic.
Sanctuary Cap Cana is my first all inclusive Marriott property. It did feel weird to walk around and just order food as I pleased and didn't have to worry about getting a bill or signing anything. In addition, I didn't get any status recognition because the rooms were assigned based on the vendor that provided the trip. All rooms are either suites or villas and the one I was assigned had an outdoor bath in the balcony/patio area.

Between the group meals and meals on your own, I was impressed with the quality of food available at this resort. From the coffee shop and pastries to themed restaurants to the fast casual options, I was overall content to eat meals at the resort. Some dishes were familiar and some were not but I was always able to eat something tasty. It was almost like being in a Vegas buffet but with time. There are certain items and/or restaurants that are not part of the all-inclusive and I didn't opt to any of those.

I did find one unusual feature. An indoor waterfall!
