Pismo Beach/Morro Bay
Unlike last year, I only went to Pismo Beach as a stopover to Morro Bay & Monterey (Trip #2). For personal reasons, I was driving up to Pismo Beach and Monterey in the same weekend. For the one night in Pismo, checked into the Vespara Resort on Pismo Beach. My brain farted for this trip as I forgot to 1) use my Bonvoy gift card or 2) use the right credit card to get the Autograph collection card offer.
Got into town in the afternoon and decided to have a quick dinner and stroll through town before heading out in the morning. On this particular trip, I was able to hang out more inside Vespara. This time around, the hotel room faced the side street versus full front ocean beach. I guess alot of folks visit in October or it has gotten more popular with the Bonvoy crowd.

After the staying at Vespara, drove up to Morro Bay. My personal errand included chartering a boat to sea. Surprisingly, I caught sight of otters AND whales. In my group, one person often came to Morro Bay and Monterey and never saw a whale. To see whales both in Morro Bay and Monterey was a happy coincidence. It was a very clear day in Morro Bay and the two whales frolicked so close to the boat that you can hear them spouting.

Spent an hour walking the Morro Bay harbor and popped into a garden home goods shop. It was a very large and very eclectic store. I was able to pick up a garden gnome. Further down the street, picked up some taffy at a general store and some dog cookies at the diner.
Dining
El Pizmo Fish Company - In pursuit of fish and chips comparisons, visited El Pizmo with 20 minutes to spare before closing time. Ordered the halibut, fries, and chowder. Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant more than the other fish restaurant I went to last time. The place is small and only a few tables inside to eat. The people running the restaurant were very friendly and I ended up with an extra half bowl because the owner made too much.

Blend Bar - After dinner, grabbed dessert (tres leches bread pudding) and an espresso martini from the lobby bar in Vespara. The bar has a good assortment of accessories for the fancy martinis being made ranging from assorted dried fruit to herbs unfamiliar to me. The espresso martine was on point!

Pequin Coastal Cocina - I had a very tight window for breakfast and ran to Pequin to get my breakfast in before heading out to Morro Bay. I ordered a breakfast burrito and my partner ordered the biscuits and gravy which came with bacon and eggs. I was impressed because most restaurants only give you the biscuits and gravy only. I continue to enjoy eating at Pequin for breakfast. Maybe next time I'll try dinner.

Scorpion Bay Coffee Co - On their yelp page, you can find the coffee menu. I like coming in to see what they have for seasonal specials and they are the closest coffee place to Vespara.
