Santa Barbara, CA
Went on a road trip with my furbabies and checked into the Hilton Santa Barbara Resort. I had hoped to check out some of the dog beaches in Santa Barbara but the weather was too nice and people were jam packed in the limited parking spaces at Arroyo Burro Beach. I ended up going to Shoreline Beach Park but it wasn't much of a beach but more of a park alongside a cliff that you can see the ocean from. Nice long park and plenty of people out and about on a Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately, one of the furbabies had a tummy issue and we were waylaid for the night. The Hilton had on its website that they accepted a max of 150 lbs for pets but when I checked again, the policy went down to 75 lbs. They didn't verify my dog's size/breed etc but I did sign a pet policy. The rooms are very large and the dogs were comfortable in the living space. We ordered room service and was able to put both dogs in the bathroom. Per the pet policy, you had to have the dogs in kennel when any hotel employee entered the room. I figured the bathroom was the same. Luckily the bathroom was a full tubsize standing shower plus a small sink. So it was large enough to accommodate both dogs (one in the shower and one outside the shower) while the person delivered the food.
We were also given an oceanfront view room and the patio was fairly large. If you are in the Bougainvillea building, the front corner is nice because the patio runs alongside the front of the building and around the corner. Not much grass but if your dog is ok with dirt, you can stay near to your room without much issue.
Dining
Didn't do anything local for dining except the hotel. McDonald's and Starbucks were the hangouts with dogs. I did see an impressive display of pet training at the Starbucks inside the Five Points plaza. A schnauzer who would stand and wait outside untied until the owner came out and sat down in the patio. The Starbucks inside the Hilton had an impressive array of pastries (my breakfast option instead of the restaurant).
