Las Vegas

I haven't been to Sin City in awhile and went out to meet family and friends for the weekend. Flew on United Airlines and checked into the SLS Las Vegas. Unfortunately, I arrived too early and was not able to check in. Perked up at The Perq with a boozy affogato and sugar brioche pastry. It was really good despite the expensive price. Afterwards, went to Hash House A Go Go for a large pancake and fried chicken. For me, I think the novelty of supersized pancakes have left me. Outside of the incredible large portions, I don't know if I would want to come back again.

Spent some time at the Venetian Hotel pool before dinner at the Grand Luxe Cafe. I have only noticed that many iconic hotels in Las Vegas are affiliating themselves with large hotel chains. I did not realize that the Venetian is part of the Intercontinental Hotel group. After dinner, headed back to SLS and attempted to check in. Success!

The room was spacious and very chic white with a Las Vegas twist. I've never had a mirror on the ceiling until now. It was interesting. Took a power nap before going out to the casino floor to gamble. Got early morning munchies and ordered a pastrami sandwich from Northside Cafe. I later found out that my breakfast credit would not apply because I was an hour too early for breakfast and my food items weren't considered breakfast. I didn't make it back before 10 am to capitalize on the breakfast credit. Ironically, I had to leave at 4 am the next day and the front desk was willing to give me the breakfast credit. I'm not sure what the difference was but it seemed silly to not give me the $10 credit given the amount of money I spent already.

The next day (or later that morning), went to Pizza Rock for pizzas with friends. After seeing them off, hung out at the SLS pool. I opted to go to the non day club pool and enjoyed being in the sun and lazing the afternoon away. I did overhear from other guests that the day club was a bit pretentious.

Flew out later than expected on the way home. I had opted to volunteer and take an alternate flight for a $500 voucher. Trip paid itself!
